“When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time …” Christ either watched for a time before healing that man or was otherwise informed of his situation. This was not about the Saviorinnately knowing the details of the man’s situation (although such is the case in some other stories so we know that He had that gift).
The declaration given by Christ here of His relationship to the Father is unequivocal and unmistakable. It is no wonder that those who refused to believe would think Him a blasphemer.
