I wonder what became of Lazarus. I assume he was faithful throughout his life but I have to wonder if he became a very early martyr considering that the Pharisees wanted to kill him even before they succeeded in killing Christ because his very breath led people to Christ. John admits that they did not understand what Christ was doing at this time, entering Jerusalem so publicly when there was so much danger from the Jewish leaders. Being hailed as king would also add danger from the Romans.
I had not realize that the Father spoke from heaven here so that those around Christ could hear Him. Many there were with high public profile who believed but would not admit their belief lest the Pharisees punish them because they prized their position on earth over their belief in Him.
