Judges 11
The charge by the king of the children of Ammon reminds me of the strife between the Israelis and the Palestinians today. It sounds like the constant complaint by the Lamanites against the Nephites. I think the answer of Japhthah puts the grievance in perspective – they had waited 300 years to air their complaint and history proves they their complaint is based on an inaccurate version of the facts.

Jephthah’s vow truly was rash because whatever first came out to greet him was likely to be a person rather than an animal. I don’t believe that the Lord wished him to make or keep that vow.
