Judges 12 – 13
It seems to me that the righteousness of a people can accurately be judged by watching for an abundance of petty grievances escalating to serious conflicts internally.
It amazes me how much the Lord reaches out and assists a people that so easily turns aside and is so spiritually immature. The parents of Sampson appear to be not well versed in doctrine, yet if the Lord is working through them that their son should deliver His people then they must be among the better prepared of the people in their day. The way Sampson turns out is further testament to them not being very strong or well grounded parents – yet they may just be a product of their age.
