Ruth 4
It is interesting how Boaz first suggested a business deal that the kinsman said he would redeem and then turned it on it’s head by saying that marrying Ruth and raising up seed to her former husband was a part of the deal. I wonder if there really was a parcel of land. If not my guess would be that he would have revealed that had the man accepted the deal with Ruth in an effort to determine if them man deserved her or if he was simply willin to take her in order to get the parcel. Notice that Boaz made sure there were witnesses to the conversation.
This genealogy is fascinating – Boaz was descended from Tamara who married Judah after playing the harlot for him when he refused to give her to his third son because his older two had each died before she ever conceived. I believe that Boaz came from the line of the son that Tamara became pregnant with when Judah visited her thinking she was a harlot.
