1 Samuel 18 – 19
Saul did no take long to regret having set David at the head of some troops in the aftermath of his slaying Goliath. Of course the people might have said he feared David had he not honored him somehow. I find it interesting that Saul recognized that the spirit was with David even as it had left him. When Saul set a price for David to marry his daughter with the intent that David should die tryin to pay it Saul was disappointed to find that David paid double the asking price.

When Michal lied about David’s escape from Saul, that he had threatened to kill her if she would prevent him leaving, may have helped her stay in the good graces of Saul but certainly helped Saul stay angry at David.
