1 Samuel 21 – 22
It amazes me to read that there is one school of thought among Jewish scholars which argues that Saul was a good man who was judged for his few mistakes. He slaughtered the priests of the Lord for helping David in ignorance yet he refused to kill the king of the Amalekites when he was expressly commanded to do so. He repeatedly showed that he followed his own will and did not understand or care about the will of God. In contrast David always cared about the will of God even though at times he allowed his passions and weaknesses to cloud his judgment.
