Why would Amnon force Tamar when she offered to marry him instead? Obviously selfishness but something more than that I think. The fact that he then hated her is evidence again that he had no love for Tamar – only lust. Absalom then demonstrates the maxim that revenge is a dish best served cold; he waited two years before having Amnon killed by his servants.
