1 Kings 8
I get the feeling that most of the multitude celebrating the completion of the temple were cultural Jews – they love a good celebration but they don’t think too much about the Mosaic law or the meaning of the gospel on their own. I wonder too about Solomon. Is he truly a great spiritual leader? Was this a time of great spiritual success for his people? Or was he simply a man with great gifts living in a time of great peace who therefore is associated with great blessings for the people?

There is a part of me that wonders why the Jews today do not make any attempt at rebuilding the temple. If they did so sincerely I thinks they would grow and learn because of such a demonstration of desire.
