2 Kings 13 – 14
I had never heard the story of the Israelite who was brought back to life when he was cast into the sepulcher of Elisha. It does not appear that they had any idea of restoring him, they were simply in a hurry to bury him – what faith was it operating which held the power to bring him back?
Reading this portion of their history it appears that both kingdoms, Israel and Judah, are as any other earthly kingdom without and practice of covenant. Doubtless there were people who still tried to practice the religion of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Moses but the nations as a whole worshiped idols and false gods as other nations. It sounds like our nation today – it was founded by people who were striving for righteousness and goodness but while we have many citizens still striving for those things the government and nation as a whole have separatedthemselves from pursuing righteousness.
