3 Nephi 16
I can see in my mind’s eye the imagery of this nation rejecting the fullness of the gospel and openly persecuting the saints – not in a limited scope such as happened in Missouri but in open reviling and rejection on a national scope – that the Lord shall command His people to withdraw from the unbelievers and gather together that His light may not shine forth to those who have rejected Him. Then shall the gospel be embraced by the remnant of the house of Israel and we shall see the wheat sifted among those who have believed as the fares remain behind when the call to gather has gone forth. Those who heed the call to gather shall be preserved in the day that the house of Israel rises up against the wicked and unbelieving of the Gentiles.
