Just as there is a special power in the Book of Mormon, there is a special power in the testimony of the three witnesses. Likewise there is a special power in the testimony of an apostle. The reason for this power is that each of those testimonies has been given by someone who has been tasked with bearing testimony. Because of their calling and purpose the Holy Ghost not only affirms their words but also affirms their calling to speak those words. Others bearing testimony of truth will have the Holy Ghost witness of the truth of their testimony but not of the calling of the testator.
I wonder how Jaredite history would have been different if Orihah had done as his brothers and cousins had done in refusing to be king. I’m sure they would still have come to destruction but how? I believe that at some point in their history groups would band together to take the leadership of the people and that there would be opposing factions seeking to lead such that they began to war and seek wickedness as they did under the system of kings.
