Joseph Smith—Matthew
“Many shall be offended and betray one another.” I don’t remember that but we have certainly seen it many times in Christian history. From what the Savior says here it is important that we have an understanding of the writings of Daniel.

These warnings to believe not when someone shall say that Christ is in some specific place are a warning to help believers avoid becoming entrapped in cult-like situations. What the Lord will do in His second coming He will do openly although many will disbelieve even though they see His arm made bare in the eyes of all nations.

“{Those} who shall not be overcome” refers to people whose love does not wax cold despite the society around them.

Like Noah we are promised many years of early warning to look forward to His coming and be prepared. But despite any amount of warning the exact timing will not be given in advance. Those who are hypocrites in their hearts will find that He shall come when they have relaxed their efforts and will be found (s)lacking.
