Adult session of stake conference

It just occurred to me that our Savior would perform each ordinance for each of us personally if it were both possible and desirable to do so. For Him it probably is possible but He knows that there is a benefit of kinship when we perform the ordinances for each other but we should consider that He would be willing to do that for each of us.

President Martin

How do we respond to this question: How are we living the (honor) code?

What is my internalized code of conduct?

Elder Holland defined integrity in a speech at West Point as “Doing the right thing at the right time for the right reason at any cost.”

From the story of Korihor—how could anyone ever really believe that whatever a person did was no crime?

If you have and are worthy of a temple recommend then you are living the honor code associated with any church school.

Learn more about John Tanner from early church history.

See a Leonard Arrington article in a 1979 Ensign. I’ll bet there is a movie at the church history museum about him.

Sister Lang??

“Each of us, married or single, must be independent in important ways, interdependent in other ways, and totally dependent on the Lord.” (I don’t know the name of the woman speaking now.)

Brother and Sister Clegg

Sealed a few months ago after 30 years of marriage.

The president Kimbal quote is better in its complete form: “It is certain that almost any good man and any good woman can have {a happy and successful marriage}.”

President and Sister Moore (just returned as president of the Madrid temple)

Pray, read, write, and testify is their pattern of scripture study

They pray (and sing) then read until they feel inspiration. Then they write in their journals. Afterwards they testify of what they have learned.

When they left they had 36 grandchildren (I think they likely had about 8 children). It sounds like they had 9 more during the three years they were gone—two for a daughter who had been unable to have children before and three for a son who was trying to build up his family quickly after marrying late (he had three before they left).

(President Moore)

They were asked a year before their presidency was to conclude they were asked if they would return to Europe for another assignment—they are only here for a few weeks.

President Taylor

His talk helped him but he’s speaking off the cuff now.

How did John Tanner arrive at his consecrated state? By yielding his heart unto God.

It all comes down to one decision—to give ourselves to God.

What is the best counsel? Elder Eyring said we need to connect people to Christ.

Study Helaman 3:35 and Mosiah 3:19

The natural man is an enemy to God—he’s not even neutral.

Will I be willing to yield my heart to whatever God wants me to do?

President Callister said that God wants our happiness more than he wants His own.

“When we stayed in the center {of the fun house ride} it could go as fast as possible and we were just fine.”

If we are not Christ centered we are off balance.

If we are not in the center we will fly off.
