1 Nephi 12
In some ways the twelve Nephite disciples are like a stake high counsel compared to the twelve apostles led by Peter, James, and John. There is every reason to believe that Christ organized a group of twelve among every people that he visited.
The great and spacious building is the pride of the world but at least people can choose to leave the building and go to the tree of life. Contrast that with the river of filthiness which is the depths of hell. Once people drown they are lost.
