Jacob 2
Jacob speaks against pride because it is easier to address than their growing lust. In the end he knows he must address both but he tackles pride first because it has less chance of wounding the innocent.
I suspect that the practice of taking concubines had been perverted and perpetuated among the Jews and formed the basis for the practice to start among the Nephites. That is the problem with polygamy, it always becomes perverted which is why monogamy is the standing rule and polygamy the rare exception.
