It just occurred to me that the wall around the city of Zerahemla was built by the instructions and in the days of Moroni.
The reason Samuel came among the Nephites was to invite them to prepare for the Lord by repenting and turning more fully to Him. After they rejected his joyous message he was prompted to prophesy their destruction save they should repent.
I like the way he says that he prays that the anger of the Lord may be turned away from the people and that they may be saved.
