None can be saved except they be willing to be called by the name of Christ. If they considered themselves Lutheran or Buddhist in mortality they will have the opportunity to be known as members of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by accepting the proxy baptisms that will be performed for them. That is one of the results of them being confirmed by proxy after their proxy baptisms. If they refuse to be confirmed members of this church it is because they prefer to reject Christ rather than be called by this name.
The judgement that comes to the people based on what is written is not only the judgement of God but also the judgement of future generations. We may muddle things and mess them up but our judgements of past generations are based on what is recorded about them.
