Crossing the Pass

I have been struggling for three days trying to get postfix to authenticate a password from Thunderbird without saving the passwords in plaintext. Today I finally solved that and now I find that I missed a setting to allow for authenticating for smtp (receiving messages is pop3 or imap – which is working). Once I have that solved tomorrow the system will be technically functional. I will then need to set up payment mechanisms and work on the aesthetics and marketing. Laura learned tonight that Julie Smith has contacts with the number 1 rated mommy podcast in the nation and she is happy to put us in touch with them when we are ready. It would be nice if we could be ready for that within a month. I’ll bet that having them review the service would get us to the minimum sustainable client base within a week of their review.

I worked 8 hours yesterday and 4 hours today (51 hours and $120 to date). During my short day today (to accommodate Laura’s schedule) I realized that this is the lifestyle I want no matter what. I am more free with the kids and the spirit is better here. If push came to shove I would rather cut back our expenses than abandon this scheduling independence.
