Moroni 1 – 6
What Moroni wrote in his father’s book was all he expected to write for himself and that was just the command of his father. I believe that Mormon recommended that if he had the chance he should write an abridgment of the record of Ether but once he finished with that he again thought he was done. Once he found that he could still maintain his safety he discovered that he had more that he wanted to share with future generations – first and foremost among them being information regarding the basic ordinances of the Church of Jesus Christ.
It may well be that Mormon and Moroni received the Holy Ghost from the hands of one or more of the three Nephite disciples who were never to taste death.
When the Savior first administered the sacrament He may well have said: “O God, the Eternal Father, I ask thee to bless and sanctify this bread to the souls of all those who partake of it; that they may eat in remembrance of the body of Thy Son, and witness unto Thee, O God, the Eternal Father, that they are willing to take upon them the name of Thy Son, and always remember Me, and keep the commandments which I have given them, that they may always have the Holy Spirit to be with them. Amen.”
Moroni categorizes the activities of church meetings as preaching, exhorting, praying, supplicating, and singing. I wonder what differentiates preaching from exhorting and what separates prayer from supplication.
