Giving a gift grudgingly and having it count as if he had retained the gift applies only in the spiritual accounting. Physically (and more importantly for us temporally) we ought to credit the person for having given the gift insofar as we can discern that it was given. We should not try to discern (unless we have some priesthood authority to do so) whether the gift was given grudgingly.

In making judgements there are good things, bad things, and tools (which are neutral in themselves and can be used for good or evil). Tools we should use for good and we should seek out and support good things while avoiding evil things.

If we have faith in Christ we shall have power to do whatsoever thing is expedient in Christ. That must include the one thing He has most consistently called us to do, namely repent and be baptized.

If we want to have true faith in Christ we must first have hope in Christ. In order to have hope in Christ we must feel The pure love of Christ in our hearts and demonstrate that kind of love for Christ and for those around us. Acting in a manner that demonstrates that love is an act which gives us reason to hope this building our faith. Thus charity is the foundation of hope and faith in Christ.
