Proverbs 6 – 7
I love the contrast. “Men do not despise a thief if he stealeth to satisfy hunger but if he is caught he shall restore seven fold” (though they understand his theft). Men do despise an adulterer because he does not satisfy a need with his sin and he cannot restore what he hath taken thus his sin destroyeth his soul.
With regards to adultery the Lord does have something of a double standard but the muslims have it backwards. A woman may be forced or misled into adultery and bare a lesser degree of guilt if she is but a man is fully culpable even if he sins with an aggressive woman who truly is seeking the sin.
