Jeremiah 27
We started the day with a 6 AM sealing assignment at the temple and I never stopped to study my scriptures after we got home so tonight is late but for a good cause I’d say.
Wow! Jeremiah gets more fascinating all the time. He prophesied to the king of Judah and the kings of many nations round about that if they would submit to the yolk of Nebuchadnezzar they would be able to retain their lands and till their own soil while the order favored his land down to his grandson (that would presumably be about 70 years). He also prophesied that any nation that would not submit to Nebuchadnezzar would be smitten with famine and the sword until they were consumed by him. This prophecy was made after Nebuchadnezzar had already come to Judah once and installed a vassal king over the people and taken most of the treasure from the temple (which I believe was a result of the foolish choice of Hezekiah to reveal his wealth to Babylonian emissaries).
Nebuchadnezzar was more highly favored of the Lord and Jeremiah was a more important prophet than I had previously recognized.
