Jeremiah 38
I can understand the logic of those who wished to put Jeremiah to death. His prophecies would serve to dishearten those who would defend Jerusalem. It is interesting that Zedekiah’s response to them was essentially that he could not control them. He seems to have been a weak leader both in righteousness and in wickedness. Zedekiah had a servant who would stand for what was right and he rescued Jeremiah. This allowed Zedekiah one more opportunity to hear the word of the Lord and live.
