Ezekiel 35 – 36
When he was told to prophesy against mount Seir my first thought was that he would prophesy against the mountain because it had been used for evil worship. In hindsight that idea is contrary to the nature of the Lord. The prophecy against the people of mount Seir because they fought against Israel even after Israel ceased their wickedness is perfectly in line with His character.
I hear a parents voice saying “I am not doing this good thing because you have earned it; I am doing it despite what you deserve for purposes of my own – specifically because it serves a larger good than simple justice would.
