Hosea 1 – 2
I wondered when Hosea fit into the timeline of Israel. The chapter heading had me thinking it was about the same time as Isaiah. The Bible Dictionary indicates that he was slightly before Isaiah and also ads the interesting fact that Hosea is the only prophet of the northern kingdom to leave a written record.
What a beginning; Houses starts by telling the people that the Lord has rejected them but that they will still be a numerous people and be called the sons of the living God. He then reminds them how the Lord choose Israel back while they were in bondage in Egypt.
