2 Nephi 5
I’m sure that Laman and Lemuel displayed no interest in the brass plates while Nephi was living with them so I wonder if they were the ones who complained among the remaining people that Nephi took the record or if that complaint against the Nephites originated with someone else – perhaps at a later time in history.

Nephi made the small plates and wrote an abridged history of their travels and separation in the first ten years after separating from the Lamanites.
