2 Nephi 27
“The Lord has poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep.” That makes a lot of sense as I see so many people physically exhausted on a daily basis. We live in a world where multitudes rely on an endless supply of stimulants to get through each day. Some come as pills, some as drinks. Some see forbidden in the Word of Wisdom but most are not specifically addressed because they did not exist when it was given.
I wonder if one reason that Joseph Smith and Martin Harris took a copy of some characters and their translation to scholars was that they hired to get some secular confirmation that they were getting things right. Perhaps they even expected to receive a few hints of correction.
