Ether 1 – 2
I have marveled before at how much information was packed into 29 plates since the book of Ether is 30 pages long and Moroni tells us that he skipped the history of the world from Adam to the Tower of Babel and other things which were recorded on those 29 plates. As I begin this time I am conscious that there is a sizeable portion of those 30 pages that is from Moroni summarizing the contents of the plates in duplicate or editorializing the content or the process of abridgment. What we have in the book of Ether is not a simple refactoring of what was on those plates.

What does it mean that “He swore in His wrath” to the brother of Jared? I feel that wrath here is not synonymous with anger.

I find myself wondering about men such as Moroni and She who, though righteous, left no posterity behind because of the wicked times in which they lived. It is actually conceivable (though doubtful) that Moroni left posterity who were wicked enough to join the Lamanites. Ether, on the other hand, if he ever had children we know they would have been slaughtered in the complete destruction of his people.
