Malachi 1 – 2
It seems that all of Malachi is a series of questions by priests of the people against statements by the Lord followed by answers by the Lord to the questions. Sometimes their questions come directly from those answers.

It sounds like the priests are perfectly willing to offer sticky animals to the Lord despite the clear instructions that the offerings should be the most unblemished animals. Not only do they give no care for the instructions but they will not offer even a perfect animal unless they are paid to do so. They likely justify offering sickly animals saying that some people cannot afford better yet they limit what the people can afford by demanding additional payment.

The law explicitly allowed for a man to put away his wife but Malachi says they should be careful of the practice and acknowledges that many put away their wives to cover their own sins.
