Matthew 9
Did the man who was sick with the palsy have much to forgive? Possibly not, we have no way to know. Christ did this as a lesson to the people and especially to the scribes.

I like how Matthew describes his own calling in the third person.

I wonder if the particular group of Pharisees who questioned why Christy sat with publican’s and dinners was honest in their confusion because this is one of the few times when the Savior’s response to a Pharisaical inquiry was gentle.

The Pharisees and other leaders of the Jews are wicked enough to kill their Lord and the people are weak enough to follow but this was a people who were largely ready to accept truth. I think that in light of His crucifixion we condemn the Jews of Jesus’ day too broadly.
