Matthew 10
One of Christ’s spotless was a Canaanite? I didn’t know that.

Apparently it us a mistranslation. The word it came from means zealot but in the original tongue it looks like a variation on the word for Canaanite. I also note that this was a description of a personality trait rather than an identification with a group.

Clearly when Matthew says that Christ gave His apostles power over unclean spirits he is speaking of priesthood authority.

These are fantastic instructions for those who are called to represent the Lord.

When Christ speaks of confessing our denying Him before men He is speaking of the confession or denial that is shown in our actions. If or actions confess Him – if we live a Christian life – He will speak in our behalf before or Heavenly Father even if or religious tradition were Buddhist. If or actions deny Him then no profession of Christianity will cause Him to support us before God.
