I wonder what party of scripture Christ is quitting which says “I will have mercy and not sacrifice.” That didn’t make sense to me until I realized he was writing something from the scriptures where the Pharisees would recognize the words of the Lord.
Why did certain if the Scribes and Pharisees seek a sign from Christ? Was He not producing ample signs on a regular basis with all His healing? With everything He was already doing openly, their asking could only be an attempt to tap or destroy Him.
The prophecy about a man taking seven into him more wicked than himself ate hid wickedness has been cleansed indicates that those who rejected Christ in His mortal time will go on to be even mor wicked when they no longer have Him to harass.
Christ was not pretending to not know His earthly family, He was inviting them to follow Him and indicating that the work He was doing now was His priority.
