There must have been others who cat out devils who were accepted by the Pharisees – they would be the “sons” Jesus referred to when He asked by whom their sons cast out devils.
I wonder if the Pharisee that invited Jesus to dine with him was one such as Joseph of Arimathaea who was a leader among the Jews (Joseph was a member of the Sanhedrin) but who believed Christ. If so, this statement on cleansing the inner vessel as well as the outer might really have changed the perspective of this Pharisee. Clearly some of the leading Jews who were present that evening, potentially even all of them, are not interested in learning from the Savior.
