Luke 16 – 17
I don’t understand the parable of the unjust steward. Was he commended for showing worldly wisdom in cheating his master or was the commendation for getting partial repayment rather than none?
The lesson if the parable seems to be that we should understand how the world works and realize that there will be times when we will need to rely on that knowledge rather than forever tilting at windmills and alienating ourselves from those around us who follow the ways of the world.
The way Jesus speaks against divorce makes me wonder if there was a practice among some Jews that anointed to legitimized protein where Rhett would take a woman to wife and then divorce her when they wanted another woman – thus freeing up the first got another man who might be looking for a new “wife” himself.
The parable of Lazarus and the rich man suggests that if someone is not convinced by the words of Christ they are unlikely to be converted by the fact of His resurrection.
The second coming off Christ will be obvious to everyone when it happens but until it happens those in the world will continue in their doing without any indication that He is returning.
