President Eggett is talking about people having their faith shaken by things they learn online. This is about people like James. The funny thing we rarely mention is that there is nothing special about the fact that the information often comes from the web in this day and age.

The question to ask with any doctrine we encounter is: does it bring light or does it bring darkness?

James collected quite a list of doctrines which he knew were bringing darkness to him. Eventually it was enough darkness to snuff out the light that he had previously received. Had he discarded the doctrines of darkness rather than saving them for later they would never have accumulated to the point that they could snuff out the light he had received.

Bishop Steve Barlow (7th ward): quoting President Packer –
The best and most clear indication that we are progressing spiritually and coming unto Christ is the way we treat other people.

President Taylor:
Pat Olberg or Oberg

“What can I do to hasten the Lord’s work?” For some of us we may need to do more and for some of us we may need to do less.

The Chinese characters for repentance Hui Gai (whey guy) mean {heart every} {change} I would interpret that as a complete change of heart.

“I invite each of us to fast and pray oft” that we may wax stronger in our humility and firmer in our faith by turning our hearts unto God.

“Stop whatever is not worthy of you.”

What does President Taylor see that has him feeling the need to remind us to repent 100% and not just 95%?

Repentance and the atonement apply to each of us whether because of our own choices or because of changes that have been imposed upon us by others.
