I didn’t realize that the chief priests sought to put Lazarus to death after he was raised from the dead by Jesus. I also didn’t realize that Mary anointed the feet of Jesus with spikenard after He raised her brother from the dead – that makes her gift seem much less random. It also makes sense that people would flock to a man who could raise a man from the dead who had been four days buried.
When Christ said “yet a little while is the light with you,” He may have meant that their testimonies of Him would soon extinguish. For many following Him at that time they would lose what belief they had in less than a week and would call for His crucifixion.
