Acts 27
Paul prophetically warned the people on the ship that if they continued sailing it would be disastrous and life-threatening. They continued anyway. Eventually they cast all their cargo and even the ship’s tackle overboard to lighten the ship in the storm. Paul then received a promise that no lives would be lost. He told the company that they would be safe. Some of the crew tried to abandon the ship but Paul told the captain to keep them from leaving. After two weeks they ate a final meal before throwing their remaining food overboard. The next day they saw a place to attempt to land. They were able to run the ship aground and safely disembark but the ship was no longer seaworthy. Before disembarking the soldiers wanted to kill all the prisoners so that they couldn’t escape but the captain prevented them in order to save Paul.
