The praise for the church at Ephesus is very loving. That kind of praise would be very comforting. Some might be discouraged that there was censure following the praise but the counsel is, as always, for their good.
The saints at Smyrna have been forewarned that they have challenges ahead but there is no indication that this is based on sinfulness on their part.
Pergamos has already endured trials faithfully but they also need some correction.
Thyatira was much like Ephesus, praised and then censured. This time there is a specific person called out for leading people astray and refusing to repent when given a chance.
