I’m in limbo today about what to study. I don’t want to begin the Book of Mormon again until tomorrow. I have completed every book of scripture at least once with this methodical study so in the future I expect to read the Book of Mormon once each year and then follow the floor of what I am impressed to study. Right now I’d like to focus on Christ but He is so big that I need something more specific for a single day.
I’ll do the articles of faith for one day.
Articles of Faith
The fundamental beliefs of the Latter-day Saints start with a belief in Heavenly Father including the fact that He doesn’t operate in isolation but with the aid of a perfect Son and an unembodied Spirit that possesses all the non-physical attributes of Deity.
We believe that each person is accountable for their own choices and that choosing obedience to the laws of the gospel prepares us to receive the blessings made available by the Atonement of Christ which we are utterly incapable of earning for ourselves.
The first steps to be able to receive those blessings are faith in Christ, repentance, baptism by immersion and receiving the Holy Ghost by the laying on of hands. Ordinances such as baptism and the letting on of hands must be done by one who has authority, which authority is conferred in like manner. That authority resides within a church organized by God matching the pattern recorded in the Bible which includes apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, etc.
We believe in the various gifts of the spirit as described in the Bible and we accept that book, along with the Book of Mormon as the word of God to all men. We also believe that God continue to reveal truth to His servants on earth and that His work among men is not finished because, whatever else He has to do, we trust that He will fulfill the prophecies made by His prophets of old.
We claim the privilege to worship as we feel is right and allow others the same privilege. In saying this we still recognize the legitimate authority of mortal governments and seek to be both good citizens and good people.
