Yesterday Art of Manliness posted a 31 day journaling jumpstart challenge. I saw it this morning and decided that I wanted to see what would come of it. Each of the 31 days has specific instructions asking varying questions and offering various approaches to journaling. Each day I will write the instructions and then follow them.
Start with answering the question of why you want to journal, and beyond that, why you decided to embark on this 31-day experience. Write out what you’d like to get from journaling.
I want to journal because I believe most lives are extraordinary when viewed from an appropriate perspective. I believe that leaving a record of a life provides opportunities for achieving that perspective (either for the person living the life or for others) that simply observing a life can’t provide. Journaling is the form of recording my life that I have the most control over.
I decided to take this challenge because it will provide some structure that might help me reignite the journaling habit that was once strong on my life.
I have to varying degrees maintained a public record of my thoughts on various topics. Journaling in a private forum allows for recording less structured and/or mor intimate thoughts – the kind that are inappropriate or unready for public settings.
