Continuing to work within that idea of constraints, try to write a 6-word memoir of your life so far. This idea is rumored to have originated from Papa Hemingway. The benefit is that with only six words, you really have to filter your life to what you deem most important. It may take you many iterations, but you’ll end up with something that speaks largely to who you are, if not in toto, then at least in this moment in time.
This sounds like an interesting challenge. My first thought was to simply try to identify six words that were descriptive of myself (e.g. father, disciple, student, designer, etc.) But then I looked into the six word memoir challenge and saw some examples (e.g. “cursed with cancer, blessed with friends” and “not quite what I was planning”) and decided just picking six words might not produce a real memoir.
A few minutes thinking brought this possibility: figuring it out as I go.
Further reflection had me considering: striving for perfection but still imperfect.
I also thought of: man of ideas–never fully realized.
I’m not ready to commit to any one of those yet or to discard any of them. I’m looking for something to convey striving, progressing, faith, mental effort, and expectations of growth.
And the winner is:
