Via negativia; today, pick a habit that you’d like to eliminate from your life. Bad habits are like armpits, we all have ‘em and they all stink. Whether cutting soda out of your life, or putting a stop to your porn addiction; either way, as with yesterday, think about the steps you’ll take in order to put the kibosh on that negative habit. And again, also think about how you’ll keep yourself accountable to that goal.
This time I’d like to go with picking my nose as the habit to eliminate. I’ve stopped doing it publicly but I want to eliminate it privately as well. I think if I could kill that habit I could conquer any habit.
I really don’t know what steps to take to address this or how to hold myself accountable but perhaps a good first step would be to begin carrying a handkerchief with me all the time again. As I remember it my nose picking was substantially minimized when I was carrying a handkerchief and that was without a specific goal to eliminate it.
The other thing that might help would be a higher awareness of it. I’ll try to make a note of how and when I pick my nose so that I can identify and address specific triggers or patterns.
In keeping with my commitment yesterday to report on my personal prayers on Sunday nights, I have done my prayers last night and today as I described in my goal. I prayed this morning to meet the Ribera’s today and during sacrament meeting I got into a conversation with none other than Sister Ribera. That have me the chance to tell her that I was their home teacher which will make calling them to make an appointment easier.
