Journaling Jumpstart—Day 9

On this day, simply write about your day. This may seem especially boring, but write out the events of your day. What time you woke up, what you had for breakfast, what your commute was like, what you did during at work, how you spent your evening. If you’re journaling in the mornings, write about the previous day. The beauty of this exercise is that you may discover something that you hadn’t realized. Maybe you weren’t very productive at work, and reflecting on it can allow you to analyze why. Perhaps you finished a big project on the house when you got home; you can think about what motivated you, how it made you feel to finish something big, etc. Don’t discount the seemingly simple task of writing about your day.

This is a good day to take a traditional approach to journaling. While my day wasn’t unusual it also want monotonous. Despite my late night journaling yesterday and the fact that I had left my morning alarm off I woke up refreshed at 5:25 so I had just enough time to dress and hurry off to the temple to do a round of initiatories. The both was slower than normal so I barely had time to change my clothes and throw breakfast in my bad before running to catch the bus with only 30 seconds to spare.

I was completely engrossed in my book, David and Goliath, during the ride in and I got right to work. I found I got through yesterday’s email backlog quicker than expected and I mainly spent the day doing Windows updates on servers. I did take the time to talk to Mike about my work on SunGard GTMS and asking whether it was with the effort to rebuild the version we’re about to upgrade. He set up as meeting with Randy for the afternoon where we decided to just move forward with building up the new version.

I came home from work to find everyone feeling much better than yesterday and Laura and I feel good that everyone will be healthy before next week. I helped get dinner (such as it was) on the table and read to Noah and Ezra while holding Emma. It was fun.

We read scriptures as a family and then sent the kids to bed by 7:30. Then Laura and I talked to Savannah about the push for same sees marriage. We felt it was time for her to hear it from us as she will likely become aware of it in school soon enough. The talk went well.

After getting everybody finally down for bed we made treats.
