Jacob 1 – 3
Faith is essential in settling questions of a spiritual nature. For example, none of the alternative explanations for the coming forth of The Book of Mormon can be proven conclusively. Likewise, there are believable alternative explanations for the various aspects of its coming forth and we don’t have the means to objectively disprove those. It is up to each person to choose whether they will put the work to the test in their lives. Putting the book to that test leads either to uncertainty or faith (depending in whether they recognize and follow a spiritual confirmation). If they choose instead to rely on logic they must eventually either accept an alternative explanation on faith, despite its unprovable portions, or accept uncertainty as they abandon their quest to know when they realize that there is no logical way to come to a certain conclusion without placing faith in one explanation or another.
