Journaling Jumpstart—Day 27

The importance of where you live: our home and environment have a tremendous impact on our lives. Take a look at the eight factors that should be considered when choosing where to live. Maybe you’ve never actually chosen, and you’ve just ended up where you are by default. Take the time today to think about the idea and importance of place. You may determine that where you are is perfect, or you may realize that you belong somewhere else.

I’ve never looked at the eight factors for choosing where to live. I feel like I’m in the right place but I wonder how this place will stack up on those factors.

Professional opportunities is the first factor. In fact that was one of the factors that led me to move here, away from Lehi. Lehi wasn’t close to very many opportunities at the time although it’s better now than it was five years ago.

Aesthetics is the second factor. I don’t know that Bountiful stands out in that regard. I like the mountains but the city itself isn’t remarkable in any way.

The third factor is recreational opportunities. since I lack a passion for any particular recreational opportunity that’s not much of a factor personally but being close to a variety of ways to relax I’d important to broaden the horizons of my children and we have many different opportunities within a reasonable distance.

The fourth factor is climate and geography. It doesn’t give much hint on how to make use of that factor but I do like as place with district seasons and varied geography such as we have here.

Available mattress is the fifth factor but that really has little beating for me unless I ever become single again (in which case this is a great place to be).

Proximity to family and friends definitely favors this region of the Southern part of Davis County. So does the environment for child rearing.

The final factor is cost of living. There are cheaper places to live, even when available salaries in an area are considered but the cost of living here is very reasonable.

Bountiful stacks up pretty well on all these factors.
