Mosiah 9
The wives and children of The men in the first expedition back to the land of Nephi stayed behind in the land of Zerahemla. This was obviously not meant as an expedition to resettle that land. It was an expedition of war.
The covenant between Zeniff and king Laman should have been recognized as being too good to be true for the people of Zeniff. After their great victory over the Lamanites, in which they sought the strength of the Lord to protect them, the people of Zeniff should have recognized how precarious their situation was and made plans to return to Zerahemla. They did recognize that the peace couldn’t last, they just choose not to seek safety.
