Alma 59 – 60
The evidence of wickedness must have been all the more obvious from the improbable defeat at Nephihah when Moroni had recently learned of the miraculous success for Helaman and his righteous soldiers.

The irony of Moroni’s suggestion that Pahoran was neglecting the army because he was surrounded by security must have been nearly comical to Pahoran. He wasn’t in his throne and even when he had been he was surrounded by treachery rather than security.

By the close of the epistle Pahoran must have been rejoicing and saying to himself, “this is why we choose Moroni as our chief captain.”
