4 Nephi 1
We might first think nothing of the phrase “in nothing did they work miracles save in the name of Jesus” but it conveys an important truth. There are times and places where miracles are preformed while invoking a part other than Christ. We may claim science or sorcery as the power behind the miracle. When miracles are wrought in the name of Jesus they promote faith in Jesus. When they are wrought in the name of science they promote faith in science (which may or may not undercut faith in Jesus – depending in the circumstances). When they are wrought in the name of sorcery they always erode faith in Jesus if there is any to erode.

With the three original disciples working among the Nephites it was impossible for them to drift into unbelief. This was active rebellion in the face of sure witnesses and mighty miracles.
