Mormon 8
Moroni was feeling depressed and overwhelmed as he began writing in the sacred record. He had experienced the destruction of his people and felt that his life had been dominated by wickedness. From that background how could he do more than record a few observed facts about the situation?
The one thing Moroni doesn’t doubt is that he had been personally faithful despite his surroundings. As he begins to write the thought flow more than he expected. The process is probably cathartic for him.
